How to Opt Out
We care about your privacy and online experience, so if at any time you wish to opt out of receiving targeted ads served by us, you can choose to do so. Check out section 7 of our Service Privacy Notice for instructions on how to opt out.
We want to make sure that your ads are eligible to run across our partner networks, so please be sure to check out the website and ad content guidelines before getting set up. Most of these requirements are put in place by our platform partners and self-regulatory groups, such as the NAI. These guidelines are in place to help keep the consumer experience safe and enjoyable.
How do you review my site?
Before submitting creative to our partner networks, AdRoll’s creative review team conducts an initial evaluation for compliance. The entirety of your website as well as all banners and landing pages undergo review to ensure they comply with our partner ad networks’ policies. Refer to our review process and statuses help article for more information.
How do you review the content of my ads?
The ad image, ad copy, destination URL, and landing page are all reviewed when an ad is uploaded to your Ad Library. Edits to ad copy and destination URLs for existing creative undergo review as well. Refer to our ad content guidelines to learn more.
Will you re-review my campaign(s) over time?
AdRoll reserves the right to review approved campaigns at any given time. Our partner ad networks’ policies and self-regulatory bodies’ codes of conduct are constantly being reviewed and updated, and as such we may review active campaigns to ensure that all they comply with current policies, codes, and legal requirements. AdRoll reserves the right to complete campaigns at any time that are no longer eligible to run.
What happens if my site and/or ads get rejected?
If your campaign has been rejected due to your website’s core product or service offering, we’re unable to promote your website due to a violation of our website requirements. We apologize and thank you for your interest in AdRoll.
If your campaigns were rejected due to a failed credit card, 404 error, URL redirects, etc., you’re eligible to make edits to your campaign and website. Once these fixes have been made, reach out to firstname.lastname@example.org and we’d be happy to review your new campaign.
Why won’t you run ads for certain sites?
Legal requirements, industry self-regulation guidelines, and platform partner rules prohibit promotion of certain websites and content. For example, advertisers are prohibited from promoting websites and creative that imply a specific health condition or religious affiliation.
But I see ads all the time for these sites on the internet, on bus stops, on billboards, why won’t you run my site which is for the same product?
Since we use data gathered from actual browsing behavior and target our ads based on that behavior, we have additional regulations we need to follow to help protect consumer privacy.
Other advertising inventory sources (like billboards, buses, TV, radio, or “contextual” advertising [where you place ads on sites where you think people who are interested in your product may be browsing, but where you are not targeting specific end users]) do not have these restrictions because the ads are not (1) online and/or (2) based on the actual activities of the specific consumer.
Just because you see ads does not mean the ads are not regulated. Alcohol and gambling ads are a good example. Each platform and each country (and sometimes state) have their own regulations about which industries/businesses can advertise and what ads can and cannot contain. Companies' differing business models and/or product specifics may affect our ability to run ads through our platform.

No Pre-Teens Allowed!
The Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act, (COPPA) governs websites and ad content targeted to audiences 13 years old or younger. In order to comply with COPPA, AdRoll does not provide its services to websites that are intended for such audiences. Refer to our additional ad guidelines for your business to learn more.
How Does AdRoll Deal with Invalid Traffic?
Invalid traffic includes both clicks and impressions that might not be the result of genuine user interest (e.g., mechanically generated “click fraud” or “bot fraud”). To ensure that your ads serve to the right users on the best quality sites, we have a dedicated Trust and Safety team in place for both manual and automated monitoring.
Blacklists are used to block domains associated with high fraud levels. We have several programs monitoring the sites from where we receive traffic and updating these blacklists, in addition to having manual checks and reviews in place.
In addition to proprietary methodology, AdRoll uses Pixalate as a third party solution to ensure accurate and effective ad exposure. Pixalate is used to measure and block ad fraud.

AdRoll Group has put in place processes to help you access and control what personal data AdRoll Group holds. In line with our ‘jellyfish’ spirit icon, our goal is to be open and transparent about what data we collect and how we use it, including individuals like you.
